Tottenham Hotspur have moved to strengthen their attacking options during the current transfer window, with AC Milan’s American winger Christian Pulisic emerging as one of the club’s leading alternatives after their pursuit of Dutch forward Cody Gakpo stalled.
According to TEAMtalk, Tottenham have made inquiries about the possibility of signing Pulisic, as the London club looks to reinforce its attack after Gakpo moved away from the idea of joining Spurs and instead expressed a preference for a move to Manchester City should he leave Liverpool.
Tottenham had been preparing to spend more than £70 million to secure Gakpo’s signature, but the Dutchman’s change of stance has prompted the club’s management to reconsider its options and explore alternative attacking targets.
Despite Tottenham’s interest, Pulisic remains part of Ruben Amorim’s long-term plans at AC Milan, even though the American was left on the bench for the club’s opening two matches of the new season.
Tottenham’s search is not limited to Pulisic, with the club also considering several other attacking options, including Malick Fofana of Lyon, Matteo Bayoha of Eintracht Frankfurt, and Matias Fernandez-Pardo of Lille as potential alternatives to Gakpo.
Pulisic represents an attractive option for Tottenham thanks to his ability to operate in multiple attacking positions, giving the team additional tactical flexibility.
However, securing the American international would not be straightforward, particularly from a financial perspective, given Milan’s desire to retain him and Amorim’s plans to rely on the player, despite Tottenham’s previous willingness to allocate more than £70 million for Gakpo.
Tottenham’s management will continue to monitor developments in the coming days as the club looks to complete the signing of a new attacking player before the transfer window closes.
