Zamalek secured a convincing 3-0 victory over National Bank of Egypt in the match played on Wednesday evening at Cairo International Stadium, as part of the second round of the Egyptian Premier League.
The first half ended goalless, with both teams failing to capitalize on the chances they created before Zamalek managed to break the deadlock shortly after the restart.
Angolan forward Chico Banza opened the scoring for Zamalek in the 51st minute, finishing from a well-delivered cross by Palestinian striker Oday Dabbagh to give his side the lead.
Zamalek continued to push forward in search of a second goal, and their efforts paid off in the 86th minute when Hossam Ashraf doubled the advantage with a superb header from inside the box.
In the fifth minute of stoppage time, Ahmed Abdel Rahim “Isho” completed Zamalek’s victory by scoring the third goal, sealing all three points for his team.
The win takes Zamalek to four points, placing them second in the Egyptian Premier League standings, while National Bank of Egypt remain without a point at the bottom of the table in 20th place.
Zamalek will face Petrojet next Monday in the third round of the competition, while National Bank of Egypt will take on Petrojet’s fellow club Petrol Asyut on the same day.
