According to "The Athletic" newspaper, Gakpo, 27, does not wish to move to Tottenham Hotspur, and prefers a new experience with Manchester City, wearing their shirt and playing at the Etihad Stadium.
In contrast, Liverpool does not object to the Dutch striker's departure, but stipulates securing a suitable replacement before approving the deal, which makes Gakpo's future directly linked to the Red club's moves in the transfer market.
Gakpo had delivered distinguished performances with Liverpool during the 2024-2025 season, participating in 49 matches across various competitions, scoring 18 goals and providing 7 assists, contributing to the team's triumph in the Premier League title.
