Al Ahly secured an important 2-0 victory over ZED FC in the match played on Friday evening at Cairo International Stadium, as part of the second round of the Egyptian Premier League.
Al Ahly took the lead in the 21st minute through Achraf Bencharki, giving the Red Giants the advantage before the end of the first half.
The Egyptian champions continued to control the game after the break and managed to double their lead in the 61st minute, when Taher Mohamed Taher found the back of the net to strengthen his team's position.
Al Ahly maintained their advantage until the final whistle to claim a deserved 2-0 victory and secure another three points at the start of their league campaign.
The result takes Al Ahly's tally to six points, placing them second in the Egyptian Premier League standings, while ZED FC remain on one point in 16th place.
Al Ahly will return to league action against Smouha on Thursday, September 3, at Cairo International Stadium, in the third round of the competition.
