Private sources within Al-Ahly club revealed that the administration is close to deciding the file of the team’s new technical director, in light of the decline in results and the instability of performance during the recent period under the leadership of coach Torop.
A source within the club confirmed, in private statements, that the file for contracting with a new coach is witnessing rapid movements, with a clear desire from the management to restore the team’s technical balance and correct the course as soon as possible.
The source explained that the most prominent name currently on the table is Portuguese coach Jose Gomez, the current technical director. For the Al-Fateh team, which is considered the closest to taking over the task during the next stage.
Gomez, who is 55 years old, has a diverse coaching record, as he previously worked with several clubs, including Al-Ahly Saudi Arabia and Al-Taawoun, before taking over as Al-Fateh coach.
He also had a distinguished experience with Zamalek club during the year 2024, where he succeeded in leading the team to win the African Confederation Cup and the African Super Cup, after winning over Al-Ahly, in one of his most prominent training stations.
The Portuguese coach had also previously won the Saudi Super Cup with Al-Ahly Saudi during the 2016-2017 season, which reflects his experience in achieving championships.
Gomez is currently continuing his mission with Al-Fateh in the Saudi Professional League, where the team occupies fourteenth place with 28 points after 27 rounds, achieving 7 wins and 7 draws against 13 losses.
