Manchester United have officially announced the signing of Cameroonian midfielder Carlos Baleba from Brighton, with the transfer now subject to the completion of registration formalities.
The 22-year-old midfielder has signed a contract with Manchester United until June 2031, with an option to extend the agreement for an additional season, marking the beginning of a new chapter in his career at Old Trafford.
Manchester United stated on their official website that Baleba has established himself as one of the most talented midfielders in the Premier League in recent years, thanks to his impressive defensive and physical qualities.
During the 2024/25 season, Baleba ranked sixth among Premier League midfielders for combined tackles and interceptions, while also ranking fourth for progressive carries per 90 minutes.
Last season, Baleba made 31 Premier League appearances and ranked among the top 8% of players in the competition for combined tackles and interceptions. He also placed in the top 1% for winning second balls, helping Brighton secure qualification for the UEFA Conference League.
Baleba expressed his delight at completing his move to Manchester United, describing the opportunity to represent the club as a dream come true, particularly the chance to play at Old Trafford in front of the club's supporters.
