Manchester City club officially announced the extension of the contract of its Uzbek defender Abdulkadir Khosanov for an additional five years, to continue his career with the English team until the summer of 2031, as a reward for the distinguished levels he has performed since joining the club in January 2025.
Khosanov imposed himself as one of the main pillars of the Manchester City squad during last season, after he presented a remarkable performance in the back line, and formed a strong defensive partnership with Mark Guehi, as well as He participated in 16 of the team's last 19 matches in the English Premier League, and contributed to winning the FA Cup and League Cup titles, in addition to being included in the final list of candidates for the Manchester City Player of the Year award for the 2025-2026 season.
After signing the new contract, Khosanov expressed his great happiness for the continuation of his journey with the “Citizens”, stressing that this moment represents a source of pride for him and his family, and he said: “I am very happy to renew the contract. My contract with Manchester City, from day one, I felt that I was constantly developing and learning a lot, and I look forward to continuing to work to prove myself to coach Enzo Maresca and his coaching staff, and to reserve a permanent place in the starting lineup. I also thank the club’s fans for their continued support, and I will do everything in my power to achieve more successes.”
For his part, Manchester City’s sporting director, Hugo Viana, praised the great development shown by the 22-year-old defender, stressing that the club sees him as one of the most prominent defensive projects for the future. He said: "Khosanov has all the qualities that qualify him to become one of the best defenders in the world. He has developed remarkably since his arrival in England, and he still has a lot of room for improvement, so we are happy to extend his contract and look forward to seeing him continue to shine with the team in the coming years."
