UEFA provisionally suspends Prestianni over racist abuse toward Vinícius
UEFA has officially announced the provisional suspension of SL Benfica player Gianluca Prestianni following alleged racist abuse directed at Real Madrid CF star Vinícius Júnior.
The incident reportedly occurred during the first-leg playoff of the UEFA Champions League at the Estádio da Luz, where the Argentine player was accused of making offensive remarks toward the Brazilian forward.
According to UEFA’s statement, the suspension will remain in effect pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation, ruling Prestianni out of Wednesday’s second-leg clash at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.
If the allegations are confirmed, the player could face severe sanctions, including a potential 10-match ban in addition to a financial penalty.
