Real Madrid suffered a strong blow at the level of the defense line, after it was confirmed that one of its most prominent members was absent for a long period after undergoing surgical intervention.
The Royal Club announced in an official statement that its Brazilian defender Eder Militao had a successful surgery in Finland, after suffering a rupture in the tendon of the biceps femoris muscle in the proximal part of the left thigh.
The statement explained that the operation was completed successfully by Dr. Lasse Limpainen, and under the direct supervision of the medical staff. For Real Madrid, the player will begin the recovery phase and rehabilitation program in the coming days.
Militao had studied two treatment options, between limiting himself to conservative treatment or resorting to surgery, before finally settling on the second option, with the aim of reducing the possibility of him suffering a future setback.
According to medical estimates, the Brazilian defender is expected to be absent for a period ranging between five to six months, which means the end of his season with the team.
Militao’s absence represents a loss. It is a huge blow for Real Madrid in light of its primary role within the defensive system, and it is also a significant blow to the Brazilian national team, after it was confirmed that it will be absent from the upcoming World Cup.
