The journalist Khaled Al-Ghandour confirmed, during his presentation of the “Axis Stadium” program, that Al-Ahly’s matches against Pyramids and Zamalek will be officiated by a foreign refereeing team.
Al-Ghandour explained that Al-Ahly Club had submitted an official request to bring in foreign referees to manage these two matches, about two weeks before the draw for the final stage of the league was held.
He indicated that the referees’ committee responded to the move, as it addressed a number of Officially from the European federations in order to provide foreign refereeing teams for the two matches, stressing that the Zamalek or Pyramids clubs do not have the right to object or insist on appointing Egyptian referees.
He added that the competition regulations do not include any clause requiring obtaining the approval of both parties in the event that one of the clubs submits a request to bring in foreign referees, stressing that what is being raised about this matter is inaccurate, and that the two matches will actually be held by foreign referees.
