Al Ahli secured a convincing 4-0 victory over Abha in the match played on Saturday evening as part of the second round of the Saudi Pro League.
Al Ahli dominated the game from the opening minutes and needed just six minutes to break the deadlock through Ivan Toney, who gave his side an early lead.
The English striker was on target again in the 13th minute after Al Ahli were awarded a penalty. Toney stepped up to take it and successfully converted from the spot, doubling his team’s advantage and giving them a comfortable lead at halftime.
Al Ahli maintained their 2-0 lead until the end of the first half before continuing their attacking pressure after the break in search of more goals and a decisive victory.
In the 51st minute, French forward Francisco Trincao added Al Ahli’s third goal, putting the Riyadh-based side even closer to securing all three points.
Al Ahli did not stop there, as Ivan Toney returned in the 57th minute to score his fourth goal of the match and complete his hat-trick, capping an outstanding individual performance.
Abha tried to get back into the game and reduce the deficit during the remaining minutes, but Al Ahli remained solid until the final whistle to secure a comprehensive 4-0 victory.
With this result, Al Ahli continued their strong start to the Saudi Pro League campaign, securing another three points and strengthening their position in the standings, while Abha suffered a heavy defeat in the second round of the competition.
