Zamalek suffered a difficult loss to USM Algiers, with a score of 1-0, in the match that brought together the two teams on Saturday evening at the July 5, 1962 Stadium in Algeria, in the first leg of the African Confederation Cup final.
The match remained balanced throughout most of its periods, amid mutual attempts by the two teams to resolve the confrontation, before USM Al Capital succeeded in snatching the winning goal during the final moments of stoppage time.
The only goal of the match came from Ahmed Khaledi. In the 90th + 8th minute from a penalty kick, giving the Algerian team an important advantage before the return match in Cairo.
Zamalek had reached the final match after overcoming CR Belouizdad in the semi-finals, after winning the first leg with a score of 1-0, then a goalless draw in the return match.
On the other hand, USM Al-Capital qualified for the final after beating Olympique Safi on the away goal rule, after the aggregate of the two home and away matches ended in a draw. 1-1.
The return match between Zamalek and Ittihad Al-Capital is scheduled to be held on Saturday, May 16, at the Cairo International Stadium, in an anticipated confrontation to decide the champion of the current edition of the continental championship.
