Chelsea Reach Agreement to Sign Emiliano Martínez from Aston Villa
Chelsea have reached an agreement with Aston Villa to sign Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez during the current transfer window, in a deal worth £7.5 million, according to Matt Law of The Telegraph.
Martínez is expected to sign a two-year contract with Chelsea, with an option to extend it for an additional season. The Argentine goalkeeper is therefore close to ending his spell with Aston Villa and taking on a new challenge in the Premier League.
Martínez has established himself as one of the standout goalkeepers in world football in recent years, playing a key role in Argentina’s 2022 World Cup triumph while also delivering impressive performances for Aston Villa since joining the club from Arsenal.
Chelsea’s move comes as part of the club’s efforts to strengthen its goalkeeping department, while Martínez prepares to begin a new chapter of his career with the Blues, pending the completion of the final procedures and the official announcement of the transfer.
